The Plan

Paul and Steph are heading back home today, after two days in Rochester this week. They are anxious to get back home.

As of now, all of Paul's records are being sent to Altru in Grand Forks. The recommendation is to start chemotherapy and radiation.

Please share this blog address with family and friends so they can keep posted and send messages to Paul, Steph, Emma, and Sarah. Now that they will be home for awhile instead of in various waiting rooms and exam rooms of the Mayo Clinic, they will have time to catch up on the messages.

We have a lot of praying going on - Hougens, Leys, Norwegians, British, Lutherans, Non-Denominationals, Anglicans, Fightin' Irish, North Dakotans, Catholics, Kansans, Minnesotans, Viking Fans, New Yorkers, Chicagoans, Washington D.C.-folk, and I've heard a few accomplished swearers and cursers have sent up a few as well. Keep it up and keep it going.

  2. Paul and Stephanie,

Many, many prayers are heading your way from our house. Please know we are thinking of you and wishing you the best possible news. Mom has learned her way around Mayo quite well, as well as the Cancer Center in Grand Forks. I went with her on her last trip to Mayo and was so very impressed with her doctor there was well! In case she doesn't post, or get ahold of you, please know that she would be happy to answer any cancer treatment kinds of questions you have. I know when she was first diagnosed no one told her what PET scans were, or MUGA scans, or what to expect on chemo days, etc. I know she'd be willing to share any information to make your load lighter. She can also tell you who the good nurses are, what to bring with you to pass the time, etc. And, I think I know of a place that would make you a pretty wonderful malt/shake if you ever need one! Let us know if there is anything we can do. If you need a ride, someone to come with for support, someone to take the girls places or to talk to them about what it's like to have a parent with cancer, anything....please ask. We've traveled down this road twice now and know how frightening it can be. We're here for you, in person and in prayer.

    Love, Cousin Sandra : )
